Believing in Our Community

Watson B. Duncan students and teachers are really showing their big hearts this year by their major efforts to give back to our community.For example, we are promoting anti-bullying awareness, as well as cancer awareness day, Duncan is also doing a food and toy drive for the less fortunate.

Right now, the spotlight is on Chloe Thibault, a proud 8th grader at Duncan. Chloe recently participated in the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Buddy Walk. This organization is non-profit family support and resource organization serving families and dedicated to making the future brighter for individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities in Palm Beach County, Florida. gcdso.donordrive.com/

"We support Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization because this amazing association has helped Chloe be included in education and all activities she would like to participate in and taught us to be advocate for her and now her to self advocate," said Chloe's mom, Celine Thibault.

Anti-bullying Day

Every year, Susan G. Komen puts together a run called Race for the Cure. Our school is proud to be a part of this race. On January 30, 2016, our school will be racing for the cure. We have put together a team of students and teachers to run and show off our school excellence. As a proud school, we want to give back to the community with our donations. We want to make sure we put our “paw print” on the world. We are going to start little by little, and eventually make a big difference.

This year, Duncan is stepping up to the next level with community service. We are hosting a supply drive for the soldiers from October 29th to November 10th. We are giving back to the soldiers fighting for our freedom. The drop off location is in front of the school from 8:45 until 9:15 in the morning. We want to give back to the people who work each and every day so we can be safe. The theater students are also doing a program called Trick-or-Treat so Tots Can Eat.

Student of the Month can mean excellence in different categories - but in Cecilia Runner's case it's several! We've heard words like "fantastic student," "team player," and "hard worker," and these are just a few. Congratulations to this well-rounded Duncan Student of the Month!

Duncan, Stealing the Show

While the Duncan Baseball and Softball teams in the past have been accustomed to victory, they had a simply fantastic season. They played each game as best as they could, and their hard work is their success. Each teammate trained, practiced, and brought their A-game to the season. Whether they were an experienced 8th grader or an up and coming 6th grader, they all had wonderful year, and had a lot of fun along the way.

Mrs. Roggen's Summer Performance

You might think she may just be our ordinary music teacher, but Mrs. Roggen took part in a world-wide flute choir over the summer! She was honored when the founders of the program asked her to join the group. The performance was held at Washington D.C’s Flute Convention, where they played classical, and orchestra music transcribed to a flute piece. Famous flutes from allover the world preformed for the citizens who attended the convention as well as professors from well-known universities, and James Galway. This convention was an important event and had a wide impact on her life. “It was quite an experience, especially if you’re playing with a whole bunch of professionals.”
